About Hybryd Band - West Sussex Punk Rock

Hybryd are a punk rock band formed in West Sussex in 2023. The lineup consists of George O'Connell, Alfie Jones, and Akira Trembath-Knight — three close friends who met at secondary school and bonded over their shared love of music.

The band's sound combines punk rock, classic rock, hard rock, and metal, creating a dynamic blend that has earned them growing recognition across the South Coast.

Their first live performance took place on 28th September 2024 at the Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre and Social Club. The gig was a success, leading to repeat bookings and a steady rise in local popularity.

Through word of mouth and online promotion, Hybryd quickly became a sought-after name for local events, including a Battle of the Bands competition where they placed in the top three.

After a standout show in Bognor Regis on 7th September 2025, the band was invited to record at a local studio, where they completed their debut single “Anymore” in just an hour and a half — a testament to their chemistry and professionalism.

"A collective effort, “Anymore” is an emotional rock ballad that captures the band's passion and authenticity."

George O'Connell

Lead Vocals & Drums

George is the rhythmic and vocal powerhouse of Hybryd. What makes him rare is the combination — singing lead vocals while playing a full drum kit is a feat few pull off, and George does it with intensity and precision every single show. His drumming is tight and thunderous, his vocals raw and commanding. Influenced by the energy of classic punk and alternative rock, George is the engine that drives Hybryd's live performances from the first beat to the last.

Akira Trembath-Knight

Lead Guitarist

Akira is the sonic architect of Hybryd's sound. His playing spans shredding lead solos, heavy riffs, and melodic hooks — often within the same song. Rooted in punk rock but drawing from classic rock and metal, Akira's guitar work gives Hybryd an edge that sets them apart from the typical local band. On stage he is focused and expressive, letting the music speak loudly. His technical ability and instinct for tone are a defining part of what makes the band sound like themselves.

Alfie Jones

Bass Guitarist

Alfie is the backbone of Hybryd's live sound. His bass playing is groove-driven and locked in — holding the rhythm together underneath Akira's guitar and George's drums with a confidence that punches well above his years. Off the back of his basslines, even the heaviest riffs stay connected and purposeful. Beyond the technical side, Alfie's stage presence is impossible to miss — he brings a grounded, magnetic energy that complements the band's intensity and keeps the crowd locked in from start to finish.
